Severity Escalation

Symptoms can automatically escalate in severity based on time or conditions.

Escalation Triggers

Time-Based

Severity increases if unresolved:

  • Warning after 30 minutes → Critical
  • Critical after 2 hours → Emergency

Condition-Based

Severity changes with metrics:

  • Speed 10 over → Warning
  • Speed 20 over → Critical
  • Speed 30 over → Emergency

Frequency-Based

Repeated occurrences increase severity:

  • First occurrence → Info
  • Third in an hour → Warning
  • Fifth in an hour → Critical

Escalation Rules

Escalation behavior is configurable:

  • Time thresholds per severity level
  • Condition thresholds for transitions
  • Maximum severity cap
  • Reset behavior on acknowledgment

De-escalation

Symptoms can also de-escalate:

  • Condition improves (speed reduces)
  • Time without worsening
  • Manual operator override

Escalation Notifications

Each escalation can trigger:

  • Additional notifications
  • Different recipient lists
  • Elevated channels (phone vs email)
