A

Asset A physical or logical entity being monitored (vehicle, equipment, container).

API Key Credential for authenticating API requests, scoped to a tenant.

Canonical Key Standardized metric name used across the platform (e.g., position.latitude).

Control Tower The operational dashboard for fleet management and symptom response.

D

Device Hardware that produces telemetry data (GPS tracker, sensor, OBD reader).

Driver Software component that translates device-specific protocols to canonical format.

Event A discrete occurrence at a specific moment in time.

Ingestion The process of receiving and accepting telemetry data into the platform.

Metric A canonical, normalized measurement with defined semantics.

SDK Software Development Kit - client libraries for integrating with ModularIoT.

Severity Classification of symptom urgency (info, warning, critical, emergency).

Symptom A detected condition that may require attention or action.

Telemetry Raw data transmitted by devices to the platform.

Tenant Top-level organizational unit with complete data isolation.

W

Worklist Prioritized queue of symptoms for operator attention.
